no flowers...

Our Creative Corner, has a blooming photo inspiration challenge, but use no flowers!!
Here is my entry :

This card is based on a sketch from 365 Cards, and the colours are from the OCC photo.

I'm trying out a new technique, which is masking and glimmer mist. This is the first time I'm using the mask (something new!), and it looks a bit gaudy, doesn't it? I overstamped it with a subtle text stamp, but it did not come out well in these photos. It's much more noticeable in reality.
I've then layered it with a doiley. The embossed chipboard fence forms the base of the card, which is simply finished with ribbon, a button and bow.

The focal image is a butterfly, which has been double embossed with holographic powder. It sits on an embossed shape (one of my earliest dies, and still a favourite ~ Ü ~) and chipboard vine. This, too, is finished with a button and bow. I love these butterflies, they are just so pretty!
Nearly everything have their edges inked with DIs. I don't think there are any projects done without this since I got my first DI ink pad! For this, it's a combo of tattered rose, fired brick and the perennial vintage photo.

Other challenges entered :
Kreative Stempelfreunde - handmade background
Incy Wincy Designs - something old, something new
Truly Scrumptious - buttons & bows
Craft us Crazy - anything goes
Cute Card Thursday - no designer paper
Cooking it up with Katie - show me your new favourite old thing
addicted to stamps - anything goes

supplies: sizzix dies (fence & vine), cheery lynn die (butterfly), spellbinders die (shape), cuttlebug embossing folder ( swiss dots), sizzix embossing folder (wood grain), tattered angels mask & mist, tim holtz stamp. distress inks, ranger embossing powder; others from my stash

A simply gorgeous creation ... that butterfly is adorable and I love the gold thread, it adds such a nice delicacy to the card. I think the background masking technique is a pretty wow technique, must look gorgeous in real!
