dreamy white dress

I have a dreamy white dress card today.

It all started with a dressy challenge over at CCCB. There has been such a buzz over dressforms recently, so I thought I would do one as well. The shape has been adapted from random google images. It is hand cut, and then embossed with a CB folder.
The dress is cut from a piece of lacy curtain fabric. Just a simple square, which I ruffled one edge and tied it with ribbon to the dressform.

I rolled a rose from the same ribbon to form the centre of the bow. Then added gold twine and flowing leaves. The leaves are die cut with TH regal crest.

The whole thing sits to one side of a mountainfold base. The base is made from a transparency sheet, overlaid with a rectangular doiley.

I love this picture, with the glow from the sunlight.

another bird cage . . .

Past, present and future makes the basis for this card. I've not used these flower dies in ages, my favourite colour at present is vintage browns and the event - girly birthdays! These are the criteria for today's 365 Cards challenge. And the image inspiration comes from Make My Monday. The printed image has been torn and adhered to patterned paper, then slightly distressed and inked to appear seamless. So it's also linking up with The Crafty Pad.

a simple note

This card is a combo of these challenges :
book inspiration - "Friends" by Nicola Baxter talks about keeping in touch.

The sentiment is papermania. The rest are bits & bobs from my stash.
Thanks for looking.

angry bird cage

Make My Monday has a photo inspiration challenge this week for their "things with wings" theme.

I am taking an offbeat angle on it

My boys are all crazy about angry birds, so I thought it would be fun to cage one up! LOL!

This is an upcycle project, as I'm just using stuff I find around the house. Alas, it is very crude! But boys will be boys . . . This is made for fun, and I doubt it'll make it to the end of the day intact.

It comes in two parts, so the bird can be taken out. The base is a butter cookies tin, wrapped with some ruffled crepe paper. I wanted some semblence to the inspiration photo, so I've used khaki crepe paper, tied up with parcel twine. The flowers are die cut from felt. I do not have pink felt, so I used white, and sprayed them with pink & red inks. They are layered over pink netting, and finished with a red gem.

The cage is made from corrugated board, disposable chopsticks and cereal box. The boys helped paint some of the pieces white.
The cage sits inside the base. When it is lifted, the lip of the tin will hold it in place, so it can be carried around.

The top is held together with corrugated board, die cut with TH gadget gears die & mini gears M&S die, then hung up with parcel twine.

A close-up of one of the felt flowers. They are cut using sizzix TH tattered florals die.
