roses for a lady

Roses for a birthday lady
~ Ü ~

Not my mum, though. A friend requested a card for her mum's birthday.

The patterned paper was printed off a magazine website ages ago, but I never got round to using it. Another oldie here is the sentiment stamp which I've used rather sparingly since getting it early last year.

it's your day

Something simple for a change . . .
~ Ü ~

The maroon pearl card looks and feels simply luxurious simply embossed, but it's a pain to photograph . . . The butterfly has been cut from the same card, and given a silver edging and a gem centre.

flower burst

Flowers are bursting into song this week
~ Ü ~

A flower burst tag for these challenges

The background of the tag is gingham fabric with a diagonal rip, from which flowers burst through. The pink silk blooms are leftovers from CNY decoration, and the smaller ones are rolled paper roses, which have been misted and inked, all with a pearl bead centre.

Mother's Day

for my mum . . .
~ Ü ~

The main image is an orchid digital print from the House Across the Bay (yes, mum loves orchids!). The text background is from an old paperstack by Papermania, and the sentiment is a new one by docrafts.

The sentiment is stamped with Perfect Medium and and Perfect Pearl for a bit of shimmer.

flappers

Hi! It's French week over at Papercraft Star, and
here's my vintage-y little piece.
~ Ü ~

It's a flappers themed deco I made for a swap.

Wherever possible, I try to reuse stuff, esp paper, and this is no exception. The image is matted with a used envelope (reused item #1). The stamped image has been trimmed and placed on either side of the main image. I love how the base visually holds everything up, and it's really firm, too! It's cut from the back of a pizza box (reused item #2), then embossed. The letter stickers are adhered, then the whole strip coated in crackle paint. It is simply embellished with a layered flower. And as nearly always, everything had been given the distress treatment.

beach babe

Good morning! I actually have a second creation to share this week!
~ Ü ~

The theme for this is vintage bathing beauty, and I have chosen to use a natural palette, with bits and bobs thrown in. The burlap base gives it a rustic feel, which has been enhanced with bunting and buttons. The bunting flags are cut by hand, then raised with foam pads. I have a thing for flourishes, and have added them on either side to frame the main image. The background is a misted and stamped piece. There's a frame just behind the image, with muted corners and edges all done in swirls and flourishes.

victorian ladies

Oh, it's been so long since my last post. Yup, life does get in the way sometimes . . .
~ Ü ~

Sharing a deco I made for a victorian theme swap. I'm using a digital image from theHouseAcrosstheBay, and paired it with some frilly die cuts from spellbinders. Finished simply with layered punched flowers, a button and some bling. Oh, and some inking and stamping in the background.

easter wishes

It's time for Easter cards and this is mine
~ Ü ~

This card is based on the sketch at The Crafty Pad Challenge #163
And the colour inspiration from City Crafter Challenge Blog Week #102.

The image & sentiment is from the ♥ Some bunny loves you . . . ♥ stamp set by docrafts. Image has been coloured in with coloured pencils, and the paper edges distressed and inked.

spring bird

It's copy cater week at CCCB, and here is my take
~ Ü ~

The challenge is to use the vintage bird image from The Graphics Fairy in your creation. The image looks great by itself, so I have opted to frame it, (with distressed & inked edges, of course!) as opposed to my usual style of piling on the layers. It is finished with just a button & burlap twine.

spring fold card

Trying out a new card fold today.
The tutorial for this spring fold can be found here.
~ Ü ~

Make My Monday's challenge this week is a spring fold card, with a spring theme. It's a rather complex fold, so I decided to keep it simple.

The main image is a stamp from the botanical print set. It is stamped and embossed in clear ep. Then I applied a blend of distress inks - peeled paint, spiced marmalade, tumbled glass and victorian velvet. It has been popped up with foam pads on a rounded square shimmery background (unfortunately, not visible in photos). Another rounded square is cut, with a round aperture, on which I attached a coloured ring, and gems in the corners. The sentiment is stamped and layered onto a scalloped circle and topped with a button and twine bow.

The base of the card. The pattern in stamped and embossed before applying ink, and the top edge cut with a border die, and embellished with a simple jute string and bow.

green tilda

It's been a long time since Tilda surfaced, so she's looking a bit green  . . .
~ Ü ~

For these challenges:

Tilda has been coloured with coloured pencils, in a stroke style. Something a wee bit different from  the norm. Ok, I tried distress inks, but the paper (despite its description of fine quality suitable for inks & watercolour) did not take colours well and just bled all over the place! She sits on corrugated board which was previously used as friction buffer. It has been painted lightly in cream, then edged in DI & stickles.
The background is made up of printed kraft wrapping paper and quarter cut large doily, both inked in forest moss DI.

A brighter pic of the bow topped with a button from an old garment, and burlap twine. The strip of ribbon has been stitched with a leaf stitch using the sewing machine. The flowers are cut from Japanese print paper and inked with peeled paint, forest moss & walnut stain DIs.

another steampunk atc

Hello again! Made a second ATC for a steampunk swap
~ Ü ~

An airship! As with the previous ATC, the base is a digital collage of steampunk elements and a magazine page. One side has been embossed and the whole thing inked and distressed. The image has been printed twice. The top layer is fussy cut, inked and raised on foam pads.

steampunk atc

Hello and hope you're having a good weekend!
I'm sharing a steampunk ATC today.
~ Ü ~

I created the base as a digital collage of steampunk elements and a vintage page. I have embossed some of the edges and inked & distressed the whole thing in DIs. The butterfly was printed twice, with the second layer raised at the wings and highlighted with gloss gel. The sentiment are letter stickers. Aren't the eyelet binoculars great? A borrowed idea from previous steampunk challenges . . .

celebrate spring

Hello and have a Happy Spring! Here's what I'm sharing today
~ Ü ~

A soft spring card with bluebells, accented in pink. The main image has been inked and distressed, and stitched onto a used envelope. The ribbon is hand dyed twill.

The flourish, flowers and butterfly have been cut from a used pink envelope. They have been inked and the flourish & butterfly covered with a film of gold pearl pen. The bookplate is cut from cereal box, and embossed in a mix of copper and vintage photo ep. The butterfly body is made from layers of a small flower, sequin and brad, with stamens for antennae.

reap what you sow

Hello! It's another green hue day today - for cards, that is!
~ Ü ~

Using this week's fabulous image from Papercraft Star, this creation uses shades of greens with yellow and gold accents. The edges have been inked in peeled paint & walnut stain DIs, as has the flourishes and butterfly. Floral background is from the Spring Swing set from The Paper Shelter, which have been stitched onto glittery yellow paper.

The butterfly has been inked, then applied a thin shimmery film from gold pearl pen. The body is moss green dotted with gold.

The multi loop bow done in paper twine is based on a tutorial by Emily Keaton here.

The sentiment is a mix of sticker letters and raised die cut letters.

art atc

It's an arty celebration over at Wicked Wednesday and this is my atc
~ Ü ~

Yes, it's been a long day, and bedtime is what I am thinking . . .
hence the design.
The background has been inked with DIs, and overlaid with a silhouette tree. This is done on marbled paper (black on white). Both images are from Stampers Anonymous, stamped in Versafine Onyx Black. The ticket has been stamped onto a scrap from a used envelope.

vintage in purple

Hmm . . . vintage in purple! What a choice of colours! Still, I think I did a pretty decent job of it!
~ Ü ~

It all started with the images which had a purplish hue to them. After some inking and distressing, I stitched them onto contrasting mats. And then, it's just a matter of selecting matching papers and embellies.

romance of the fairies

Hi! I have a card to share today. It's spring and the fairies are sharing a playful romantic moment. I shall call it "Romance of the Fairies"
~ Ü ~

The image is part of a collage by magic moonlight. It has been stitched onto red paper and white cs. The red paper is cut from a used ang pow (red envelope) from Chinese New Year. This has also been used as backing for the embossed panel, and the red butterfly. The embossed panel and the stamped background are recycled backing waste from misting. The darker panel is from the sweet melodies set from stitchy bear, which has been stitched on. Most items have been distressed and inked with antique linen, vintage photo, fired brick and my new BFF, walnut stain (I love the very dark, but not quite black edging) DIs.

Top Tips for today - before sewing layers together, use some adhesive at the centre so the layers will not run while running through the sewing ,machine. Make sure the adhesive does not reach the area to be stitched as the needle will collect the stickiness and be rendered completely useless (experience showing here! ~ Ü ~). Also, embossed papers will stretch and be distorted when run through the sewing machine.

Another recycle item - bookplate cut from cereal box. Painted, inked & crackled, to frame the sentiment of the piece. It is backed onto a border strip of corrugated board (painted white and inked), burlap twine and a piece of furry yarn.

Pretty pink roses from papermania. They were too "pink", so I sprayed them with some homemade mist. I can't recall the colour or mix I used but it's something yellowish/golden. These are framed with leaves, inked flourishes, and finished with gems, gel dots and pearly dots.

Final embellies - butterflies with bling!

best fishes

A fishy CAS card this time
~ Ü ~

Except for the card base, all papers used are scraps. The back border is a marbled off cut. The fishes have been stamped on white, then spot coloured with pencils and Sharpie. It is then pieced over with a scrap of non woven wrap which has been stamped and fussy-cut. The dots are transparent gloss gel, which has also been applied over the hearts, and dotted on the fishes.

The image is a vintage Japanese print, from theHouseAcrosstheBay. It has been distress inked and stitched onto a piece of scrap card. The background is recycled wrapping paper, topped with scraps of sakura print paper, die cut strip, and embossed card. All the edges have been inked in fired brick & walnut stain. dragon tag

Hello and Happy Valentine's Day!
Sharing a tag today, but not anything on love, though!
Something mystical and magical . . .
~ Ü ~

Top Tip Tuesday has a Mystical, Magical & Fantasy challenge this fortnight. I have been asked to GD, and here is my creation

The tag base is covered with marbled paper although it's not obvious here, which is then layered with part of a recycled onion bag for some texture. The printed images from theHouseAcrosstheBay have been distressed, inked and raised on foam pads. It is then finished with a Chinese coin, peel-off circle, Chinese knotted paper twine and red lace.

with all my love

February is the month of love, and this is my contribution to the myriad of love themed creations. A card for my darling hubby
~ Ü ~

Using the sketch from Kaboodle Doodles with a love script inspiration from Make My Monday, colours from Raise the Bar and a recipe from Simon Says Stamp & Show

The main image is a new stamp from Papermania. I've paired it with the sentiment, also from Papermania. The large heart die cut is from Sizzix, butterfly from Cheery Lynn, and the embossing folder is from CB. I've incorporated the torn corrugated board as a textural element, and lace for some shabby chic goodness! The background is stamped repeatedly with a medallion stamp from Viva decor, and everything given the distress ink treatment - walnut stain, vintage photo & fired brick

The flowers are from SB, with one button centre. Pearls are paper pen.

There are tons of love/heart/valentine themed challenges and several others that this card fits. I'm sure there are more that I could enter but I think I'll cap the night at *just* these
