favourites!

This week. it's all  about favourites, and this is mine... dies, dies, and more dies! ~Ü~
Yup, I can't have enough of them! So, today's cards are all about die-cuts. I had just realised that I did not use a single stamp or patterned paper on these! Just lots and lots of kraft, my favourite kind of paper.

I wanted to create a card that I can easily reproduce, so die cuts were the way to go. The base is embossed on two different papers, so I get a frame. The butterfly is cut from corrugated board (gotta love those steel ruled dies! ~Ü~), then part of the top layer was torn away to create a shabby look. Having a curved fence is kinda funky {can't believe I've never tried that!}, and finished off with a layered die cut flower. Everything was liberally edged with distress ink, another favourite technique of mine! The butterfly, flower and leaves were spritzed with glimmer mist for a little sparkle.

The next card is all about hope. The layout is based on a CLP sketch. The card base is layered with kraft and print, the edges torn and inked. Spritzes of glimmer mist give them a subtle sparkle. The butterfly is cut from painted corrugated board, and the same gold paint applied to the label. The sentiment is also die-cut. I did not have matching eyelets, so these white ones were coloured with a brown marker. Some of the colour has rubbed off, which give them a more distressed look. The liquid pearl swirls did not quite work out the way I wanted, but they're there to stay, anyway. The whole card was attached to a distressed, corrugated card base, with an easel stand at the back.

The inside of the card defines the sentiment on the card front. It's printed from the computer, then torn and layered on yet another die-cut. ~Ü~
