thursday challenge

I'm going to try something new today. Well, to me anyway. =) It's a common technique of using embossing as a resist.

This is a stamp from the Papermania birdsong collection. I used holographic embossing powder on an embossing ink. I've tried using pigment inks and distress inks for embossing but the powder never sticks well. They all say slow-drying but they do not work for me. Perhaps the paper I'm using is too absorbent.

The background is a blend of tattered rose, forest moss with a hint of stormy sky. The bird is coated with glossy accent and highlighted with fired brick on a brush.

Anyway, I'm going to enter this for the challenges over at Cute Card Thursday and Paperplay Challenges.

Another new week, more new challenges...

I've done a monochromatic card, with yet another flower stamp.

  
This time, the stamp is from Papermania's oriental collection. I used distress ink to highlight the image. The buds are done with a glitter marker, and the blooms with marker and glossy accent.

The paper flower is crafted from daisy punches, to which I added a button and glitter glue. The background is some lovely kraft wrapping paper I found at a local store.

Yup, another brown card! =)

The image was coloured with distress inks. The sentiment is pc printed, and the marbled paper was one I made years ago.

This time, I'm following a sketch from sketch saturday -  week #145. I'm also entering this card over at A Spoon Full of Sugar - anything with a vintage/shabby theme. I should try another colour next time...

card challenges

I've had this rose stamp for some time now, and decided it was time I used it. I don't have any markers, so I was going to paint it. Tried several colour palettes, but went back to my perennial browns. Does not help that I was using distress inks and was limited to what I had. I really need to get a couple more, they're so easy to use for painting. =)

After browsing around, I saw an interesting sketch over at Friday Sketchers. So I'm going to to enter this card for that challenge, While I'm at it, I'm also going to enter the challenges over at Papertake Weekly and PaperPlay Challenges.
