teacups

Less than two hours to the new year!
~ Ü ~

A CAS card to share. The Papercraft Star challenge this week is coffee or tea. I thought it would be a great opportunity to use this stamp.

This is done in Stampin' Royalty colours, and each teacup is fussy cut for City Crafter Challenge Blog. Instead of colouring each teacup (which is not really my cup of tea *Ü*), I've stamped it onto different paper scraps, and stacked them up. The sentiment is a Forever Friends stamp.

born to rock

Happy New Year's Eve, all!
~ Ü ~

A simple card to share today. I've not really made many boy cards and this is a nice and easy one.

Using Claire's sketch from Sunday Sketch and Stamp, and the stamp & paper from SBDS for Choccy's Christmas challenge at One Stitch at a Time. The image is coloured with colour pencils, and mounted onto a gold SB die cut. The simple embellies are corner die cuts and a brad for the upturned corner. The background piece has been grunged up a notch with gold paint.

Also playing the anything goes challenges at Scrapbook Sisters, Simon Says Stamp, Let's Craft & Create, Top Tip Tuesday and CI Paints. For Dutch Dare, my favourite things are die cuts. The more the merrier! LOL!

santa tag

Yet another Santa creation . . . a tag!
~ Ü ~

I'm taking an offbeat slant to the sketch challenge at Crafty Ribbons to play the tag challenges at Make My Monday, Papercraft Star & Simon Says Stamp & Show. I'm also inspired by the vintage Santa at Inspired by #3. He's not as chubby, but I'm sure he can be just as jolly!
~ Ü ~

The tag is cut from kraft chipboard, which is then embossed and inked in DIs. The main image is distressed and inked, then adhered to a mat with a glittered edge. It is attached to a gold painted flourish, and foam-mounted onto the tag. The ticket is inked & distressed, and the top of the tag is finished off with ribbon and twine.

I love the look of ruffles at the base of the tag. I've used gold organza tied with red grosgrain, and finished with a snowflake & liquid pearls.

~ Ü ~

The image from Kenny K has been coloured with colour pencils, distressed and edged with embossing, DIs and gold paint. Background is embossed chipboard treated the same. The chipboard cogs have also been embossed and attached with eyelets.

card & gift set

Christmas Eve is here and my last Christmas project for the year (I hope!) is complete. It's going next door, so there are no postage issues
 ~ Ü ~

It's a wrapped gift, with a matching card. The card is based on the sketch at Card Patterns.

This set complements a gift box I had made earlier.

Entering lots of challenges

santa in red & blue

A different colour combo for today's santa
~ Ü ~

 Entering these challenges

The sizzix chipboard flower has been embossed, curled and inked in red. Topped with a flower gem.

The snowflake sits on a sanded red chipboard dingbat from sizzix.

The light blue background is a piece of wrapping paper which has been embossed and sanded.
Tip for today - sanding light papers would flatten the embossing. To avoid that, line the paper up back on the folder and sand away!

light blue, red, white and . . .

. . . light pink! The holiday colour combo from Our Creative Corner includes light pink, yet somehow I got the impression it was dark blue. So I made a card with those colours (here) . . . and when I realised my mistake, I made another one. Except that this is a deco square (or fat page or 4x4)

An oriental holiday, to celebrate the new year, not Christmas.

b+w and teal atc

Black and white with a splash of teal are the colours of The Play Date Cafe PDCC 111 this week. Reminds me of smurfs . . .

A clean design, playing with embossing, ribbons and a single teal flower gem for Santa's hat.

ruffled up red

Another Christmas ornament!
~ Ü ~

This time in more traditional colours of red & gold. This one is going to another neighbour.

The gathered ribbon is sewn to form a circle for the base. The front has a snowflake-topped rosette sitting atop a frilly chipboard die cut, which been painted in gold, embossed and blinged with (liquid) pearls. I'm rather proud of the pretty red bow, with an extended length added as a hanger.
~ Ü ~

The other side has a gold lacey circle chipboard base on a gold-specked paper doiley. It is embellished with a layered flower, which is made from punches and moulded blooms, framed by a leafy vine which has been edged lightly in red & gold.

all ruffled up

It's all ruffled up at Our Creative Corner, and so is my ornament
~ Ü ~

I do not celebrate Christmas, but it's still fun to make ornaments.
This will go to my lovely neighbours.

I've used a length of gathered ribbon and sewed it into a circle. Added a rossette, edged it in gold, and topped it with a snowflake. It would have been nice if I had a slightly larger one, but that's all I have so . . .

On the other side, I have used a lacy circle chipboard as a centre. It is painted gold, and speckled with white paint. On top, it is embellished with a leafy branch, punched flowers and moulded flowers.

When it catches the light, you'll get sparkle on the snowflake and from the metallic thread & trim on the ribbon.

winter fun atc

Morning! I have set of fun winter ATCs to share today.
~ Ü ~

Winter Fun's the theme at Wicked Wednesday ATC challenge
And aren't these girls having fun?
The vintage images have been inked and sponged with splotches of white paint for a more snowy effect. They are layered onto base corrugated cards which have also been inked and sponged in white. Even the banners have not escaped the splotches although it's a mite small to see.

Also linking up with the snowman challenge at PaperPlay, the snowy challenge at Quirky Crafts, Simon Says Stamp, and the anything goes challenges at ATCs with Attitude and Cute Card Thursday.

more santa

Rounding off my five cards for Christmas Cards All Year 'Round.
~ Ü ~

Actually, I made four of these, but I sealed two of them into envelopes before I remembered to take photos . . . Oh well!
Pulling the red & gold from the ad at 365 Cards - Day 281, these are very quick, easy to make cards. Not inclined to do any stamp colouring, so highlighted the background with blended DIs instead. A frilly frame, embossed paper, some ribbons and voila!

b + w santa

Another santa creation . . . in black & white!
~ Ü ~

I'm running short of time for making cards, so going CAS (well, nearly anyway!) for now. Sketches are a great help in making the layout for a card, and this is no exception. This sketch is from Stampin' Royalty. This card is also playing at the Christmas challenge at Stampin' for the Weekend and Christmas Cards All Year 'Round.

Santa stamp is from Crafty Secrets and the sentiment is a free stamp from a magazine. Background is embossed with a CB folder. Dies from Spellbinders & Quickutz. Ribbons & gems from my stash.

golden glittery santa

Santa Claus is Coming to Town!
Ho! Ho! Ho! That's the song inspiration for today's card.
~ Ü ~

And the main criteria for the challenge over at The Paper Variety.
The layout is based on the sketch at Sketch Saturday, and I'm inspired by the photo montage at the Simon Says challenge and My Time to Craft to create a vintage card. Christmas Crafting and Try it on Tuesday want the big guy, so here he is! The main image is part of Victorian Santas Dominoes page from theHouseAcrosstheBay. I received this for the last challenge at Papercraft Star. And I'm playing there again this week in their tree challenge.

Make My Monday's challenge this week is seasonal, with added glitter. I didn't really fancy using stickles this time, so tried something new with glittery holographic embossing powder (my tip for today). I dabbed gold acrylic paint on the chipboard flourish and immediately smothered it in ep. This is the result! Now I can have glittery finish in any colour! Why gold? Well, Kaboodle Doodles list out red, green, white & gold. So I'm opting for just one instead of all four.

I also used ep to highlight the furry parts of Santa's coat, using Perfect Pen. The sparkly embossing allows me to play at Crimbo Crackers, The ABC Challenge and Dream Valley Challenges. And it's all stitched up for Creative Craft Challenges. There's a bit of falling snow in the image, so I'm pushing it a bit to play at Top Tip Tuesday and Hooked on Craft.
~ Ü ~

For Cupcake Craft Challenges, no dp has been used here. The main background is stamped and the other panels are embossed cs and ribbons. The sentiment is a peel off sticker.
Also playing the Christmas challenges at Paper Crafting Journey, Moving Along with the Times, Christmas Cards All Year 'Round, ABC Christmas Challenge & Simply Create Too. Other challenges entered include Speedy the Cat's Friends (I love gems & pearls), Inky Impression Challenges (use ribbon), Crafty Ann's (gold, tree, glitter)and the anything goes challenge at Cute Card Thursday.

b + w flower atc

Another black & white ATC for Wicked Wednesday.
Flower-themed this time, for the all-new ATCs with Attitude.
~ Ü ~

I've stitched a black panel, onto which I have layered a partial stamped image which has been fussy-cut and also stitched with contrasting threads. The stamp is from Viva Decor.

The larger flower has been given a glitter pen treatment, and both flowers have then been glossed over. The flower centres are black diamond stickles. I used a pin to pull the glitter along the outlines around them.
I hummed and hawed about the black, but decided that I preferred it bold as is, and not add other embellishments.

Also playing at Simon Says . . . Anything Goes! and Divas by Design - Anything Goes.

green deco square

Something a little different today - a deco square. Or as some call it - a fat page - a 4 x 4 piece of art.
~ Ü ~

I have created what I hope passes off as CAS.
A simple embossed green background, and two criss-cross borders with paper twine from which a tag is suspended.

The tag is a combo of a scalloped circle and a corner die cut. The inner circle is an embossed tree which has been glossed over.
Everything has been given edge inking with forest moss DI. The borders are strips of corrugated board which has been gessoed and inked over to emphasise the stripes.

Challenges
CAS-ual Fridays - scallops, green, stripes
UnstampaBelles - Christmas
Less is More - green

white santa

Another white Christmas creation.
There's just something about white on white . . .
~ Ü ~

Not full white this time, but with an added touch of silver and off white. The sketch is from Papercraft Star, which happens to be a more elaborate form of the sketch from Our Creative Corner.

The main image is a Crafty Secrets stamp. It has been heat embossed in silver, layered on silver and then on a lacey white circle. It is mounted over white grosgrain ribbon and lace. The embellies are a raffia bow (painted white) and die cut buttons (topped with glossy & crackle accents).

The sentiment is from the same stamp set.

Just showing the layers over the embossed base card. Despite the whiteness, the pics have come out a bit dark. The embossing reflects direct lighting, and these were the best of the lot.

Other Challenges
Top Tip Tuesday - A Touch of Colour
Crafting for all Seasons - White on White
Craft Your Days Away - Buttons or Bows
Ladybug Crafts Ink TLT - White on White
City Crafter Challenge Blog - Santa Claus is Coming
Christmas Cards All Year 'Round - Anything Goes
Sarah Hurley Challenge Blog - Christmas
Crafty Cardmakers - heat embossing
Crimbo Crackers - Santa

Tip for today . . . how NOT to heat emboss
~ Ü ~
Do not delay heat embossing by a long period of time. I started this card early in the morning. I thought I would just stamp and apply embossing powder, then use the heat tool after the little one has woken up. Bad idea! I could only get back to the card mid-morning. And when I applied the heat tool, most of the powder just flew off, leaving a patchy image, with dots in random places.

b + w atc

Morning all . . .
Combining two challenges for this ATC. Black & White for Wicked Wednesday, with some lace for ATC Blog Challenge
~ Ü ~

This type of lace always evokes a vintage feel, so I'm going in that direction and turned to Crafty Secrets for a stamp. I'm at a loss as to how to incorporate this image in a card, but for a lighthearted ATC, I think it's fab!
I've used an SB die to frame the image. Background is a TH stamp in Versafine, and edged in charcoal chalk ink. I've also used black grosgrain, and finished off the ATC with peel off corners & pearl pens.

Also playing along at Creative Card Crew (monochromatic) & Lollipop Crafts (B is for Black).

christmas box

Another week, another challenge at Make My Monday.
This week, it's Christmas boxes, and this is mine
~ Ü ~

The box has been refashioned from an empty ice-cream cone box. I've shortened it, as I do not need the length. It is covered in Christmas print paper.
To create a base for the box, I've painted a gold fence cut from chipboard. And adhered maroon grosgrain ribbon over it.
For the top border, it's two layers of gold ribbon, finished with a bow.

This project is a die cut showcase. The four sides have been decorated with sizzix die cuts from the same set. The front is a sock, which I have topped with buttons, and hung from the bow with a jump ring.

The left side is a layered Christmas tree and snowflakes.

The right side is decorated with a simple holly branch. The berries have been highlighted with glossy accent.

The back is embellished with the sentiment, created from a peel-off sticker and a die cut. "Joy" has been glittered with a gelly roll pen, and topped with glossy accent.

The top is simply decorated with a framed medallion. More die cuts.
